What did we do during our last weekend in Italy? We shopped, ate all the nice pizzas and pastas that we know we're gonna miss, bid farewell to the owners of the restaurants we frequent, drove up the mountain for night sky gazing and just enjoy the fresh, cold air here. We started our outing on Saturday at Lindt Chocolate Factory, buying some chocolates back to Singapore for friends. There's this super big Lindt bear outside the factory outlet, I must take a pic with it! But erm, I look as if I'm surrendering to the bear.  Christmas-y decor inside the factory outlet. Heh heh.. Hubby booked an appointment with Osservatorio Astronomico (Astronomical Observatory) for a visit on Saturday. But stupid us got the time wrong and we under-estimated the time required to get to the Observatory. It was already closing when we were there. It took us about half an hour to drive up the winding roads to get to the entrance and walk further in, climbing steep slopes. The Observatory has to be at a place where there's minimal lights, so have to walk deep deep inside. Seriously, all the places with beautiful scenery or nature require me to walk until I wanna die. Since the Observatory was already closed, we walked out to the entrance and watched the sunset. Beautiful sunset, the moon, lakes, city lights and a very bright star (we guessed it's Venus) all in one pic. The very bright star looks very faint in this pic. The famous Gelato shop in Rome introduced by our friend, so we gonna try it.  Hmm.. My thoughts on Giolitti? It's nice. But we had better Gelato back in Gallarate. In fact, not only Gelato, we didn't have any yummy meals in Rome. The food we had in Rome was just ordinary, passable standard. I realised food in touristy cities are not as cheap and yummy as the not-so touristy towns/cities. I think Gallarate has better food options than Rome.

A must-visit place in Rome is the Colosseum. We were super happy that we bought the Colosseum tickets online, because the queue to buy the ticket was super long. We walked all the way into Colosseum with the long queue beside us. That was a 'shiok' feeling!! Hahaha. It was kinda hard for me to imagine that it was once grand and magnificent. It was the stage where the knights, soldiers, criminals or beasts fought/killed each other, and the king and spectators viewed it as some form of entertainment. The museum of Colosseum showed what happened beneath the stage, what happened on the stage and what were the spectators doing while watching the show. I must say I was amazed by the design of the stage. The first thing I had to say was to recommend the B&B that I stayed in Rome! Rhome Terminal Guesthouse. It was super clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the TV was pretty, the toilet was spacious, it's just 5 minutes walk from Roma Termini and it was reasonably priced! We got it at 144 Euros for 2 nights! Oh, before I forgot to mention, it was located on the 4th floor. The main entrance by the road side. Gotta press on the door bell and the reception of Rhome Terminal will open the door for you. After check-in, guests will be given the key of this main door, so there's no need to ring the door bell after that. Oh, another thing to note. As it's a guesthouse, there won't be staff at the reception 24 by 7, so if you are arriving for check-in later than 7 pm, you gotta inform the guesthouse prior to your arrival so that the staff will wait for you.
