Vegetarian 6 course lunch at Joie by Dozo

Few years back we were amazed by the food and service we had at Dozo River Valley but it was closed subsequently. It was recently that we found Joie by Dozo. It's now a vegetarian restaurant. Same as many people, we got the impression that it was not worth the same price as their predecessor who served meat in their courses. However, we were blown away with this vegetarian experience! Service was great as usual, the service staff takes pride in explaining each course served. Free flow flower tea were served once we sat. Hubby and I chose different dishes on the menu for each course so that we can have more varieties. For a start, we were served complimentary pre-meal drink - passion fruit and plum ice blended. The waiter explained that this can help to clear our palette for the several courses later. Starter: chef selection of assorted platter  The waitress advised that we eat the middle first, then the right one and finally the left one.  Middle one...

Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King @ Orchid Hotel

TGIF Dinner at a very Japanese feel and cozy ramen shop at Orchid Hotel, 1 Tras Link, Tanjong Pagar. I have been wanting to try the ramen at Tonkotsu King as every time I walked pass it, there's a long long queue. Finally today, we decided to just queue no matter how long it takes. There is free cold barley tea outside the shop for patrons who are queuing, quite a nice gesture! While queuing, you can decide what to order. Take the order form and a pen from the table outside the shop and tick according to your preference. Oh! Take one order form for each bowl of ramen. They will cook according to your preference. There are mainly 3 types of ramen, the normal one, black spicy and red spicy. We both ordered the normal and add $4 for Special All Toppings (consists of a big piece of seaweed, a flavoured egg and a thinner piece of chashu). If having all the toppings is not what you want, you can just tick seaweed for $1 or flavoured egg for $2. There's also choices of light, no...

Can't See Dinner @ NOX Dine in the Dark

This is a blogpost that will have minimal photos because I am in total darkness most of the time during the dinner time except at the lounge. So what to expect for dining in the dark? We were first greeted by the staff at the lounge. No worries, there's light at the lounge. We were served a small appetizer and presented with the drinks menu. You can order wine, beer, cocktails to drink in the lounge or to go with the food later. They also have still or sparkling water. We, the stingy couple, tried to ask the staff if they serve tap water and the answer is no, they don't serve tap water. So we paid $8 for a bottle of still water. After we are done with ordering the drinks, wait for the staff to call us to walk through the door to the dining area. Before we enter, we were asked to put our belongings and anything that is likely to emit light such as mobile phone and watch in the locker. We were then greeted by our guide who will guide us through the door and to our table....

Recommended fusion fine dining @ The Clan Restaurant

The Clan Restaurant Address: 1 Selegie Road #02-01, POMO, Singapore 188306 The Clan Restaurant - Nice deco and ambience Few years back, we tried  Dozo  which is a Japanese-French fusion restaurant located at Valley Point Shopping Center along River Valley Road and fell in love with it. It was priced reasonably for the wonderful food, service and ambience for a 6 or 7 course set. However, last year, when we wanted to revisit Dozo, we realised that it was closed! After researching online, we found a similar recommendation by Hungry Go Where - The Clan Restaurant. The standard of the food, service and ambience was comparable to Dozo! We felt so satisfied after meal there. We went for the weekend 5 course lunch which was priced at $$49.80++ which we think is very very worth it given the quality of the food and service. Upon entering the restaurant, we were given the welcome drink - cranberry and apple ice. From the side dish, to soup, to the main dish and dessert,...

Foodie in Hong Kong

Went for a Hong Kong trip for a short 4 day 3 night getaway. I’m definitely not a fan of crowds and ‘rushing for time’ city so I don't really like travelling in Hong Kong that much. I find that the only thing that attracts me is food, food and food! 再兴烧腊饭店 (Joy Hing Roasted Meat) Address:  Chong Hing Building, 265-267 Hennessy Rd, Wan Chai, Hong Kong How to get there: Alight at Wan Chai MTR station (exit A4) and walk along Hennessy Road. You will need to cross the road. It’s a very small eatery and it gets crowded during lunch or dinner hours. You might have to share a table with others, and you cannot sit there and chit chat after you have finished your food. There are other customers waiting for your seat.  We ordered a plate of charsiew and roast duck rice, a plate of chicken rice, a soup and an additional small plate of charsiew for only 60 HKD! Free flow of tea provided! Look at the charsiew, it's so shiny and tender looking. Slurppp! ...

Recommended Eats in Johor Bahru (JB): City Square

BornGa Korean Restaurant We're having a craving for Korean BBQ and came across BornGa Korean Restaurant in City Square. The restaurant was separated into 2 sections, with BBQ and without BBQ. If we decided to have BBQ, they have a minimum order of at least 2 plates of BBQ meats. Many small Korean side dishes were served first together with the lettuce. The lettuce is really fresh and sweet and so pretty!! We ordered pork belly and premium beef. The meat are really tender and juicy. The Kim Chi soup was yummy as well! Arashi Arashi is a must visit when we are in JB, Arashi has branches in City Square as well as KSL. We really loved the fresh and quality food for the steamboat. The price is really cheap as well as compared to eating steamboat in Singapore. The interior is comfy and nice too! They have set meal as well as la carte order. Set meal includes the cost of the pot of soup and rice. They have a huge variety of soup base to choose, almost 10 ki...
